Pearls

Pearls are hard, roundish precious stones created in a natural way within the soft tissue (mainly the mantle) of a shelled mollusc. Pearls are made up of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form. Pearls come in a variety of different shapes with the ideal pearl seen to be smooth and perfectly round. The pearl is a highly valued gem stone with a pretty and sophisticated appeal. The most in demand and precious are those which are found naturally in the wild. Pearl jewellery makes for a lovely gift and simple designs appeal to a wide range of people.
